There is an increasing level of awareness over the past decade on the consequences of man’s activities and their straining effects on the Earth’s ability to remain sustainable. In particular, the built environment can significantly contribute to the global warming and climate change agenda due to a large amount of energy consumption and of greenhouse gas emissions (especially for industrial projects). Therefore, considerable climate change mitigation can be achieved through the construction and real estate sectors by shifting toward sustainable building practices. As a result, green building has emerged as an innovative building concept to lessen the environmental impact of constructions, reduce resource use, and at the same time optimise users’ and occupants’ comfort.

As an MEP solution provider working in the construction field for more than 20 years, MEC International has participated in sustainable building projects. There are a number of ways buildings can be sustainable, and very often they can reduce energy consumption through lighting design, properly maintained HVAC systems, and daylighting adjustment, or promote efficient water use through innovative practices, including smart irrigation . MEC International has been building a strong team of AP Lotus advisers who are experts in said technologies and practices and can advise clients on how to meet requirements for green building standards while optimising life cycle costs. In 2014, MEC was proud to provide the whole package of supply and installation of M&E system for Big C Ninh Binh, which achieved LOTUS silver certification from VGBC.
